I just got my hair layered, but you can't really tell. How do I make the layers more defined?

My new layers just seem to blend into one another too much, you can't really tell where the different layers are. When I pull my hair all to one side though I can get the shorter strands apart from the longer ones, so I know they're there.

My friend uses Garnier Fructis' Surf Wax to define her layers.

Does that work? What other products or techniques can I use to define my layers in the back of my head?

[ Oh. And I have straight hair :) ]

I have wavy hair but get subtle layers all the time. I get a hair/heat protection spray, bend over and spray the ends (the shortest layer to the longest) and i use a 1-1.5 inch metal curling iron (i got mine from Sally Beauty Supply) and go from longest layer to shortest and slightly flip the layers out, it has a cool feathered (but not Farah) look. and is great for the day and night! I finish it up then with a light aerosol hairspray (i prefer pantine anti-friz, but pantine also has hairspray for straight hair) and the flipped look can even be dramatized if needed (just flip it out farther and in chunkier parts)

Either tease your hair and spray it with hairspray, or flip or curl the layers of your hair. if you wear your hair bone straight and brush it all together, the layers wont show.

I usually separate my hair into three layers and flip the ends of each and then comb it through and spray it with hairspray...that way you can see the individual layers.

Give each layer a soft curl
