How to get layered hair?

I was wondering if you were to make your own hair layered how would you do it? I know you use a razor but which direction and way would you cut your hair, and do you have to wet your hair before you do it? I don't want to go to a salon

i do my friends and my hair all the time. all you have to do is take a shower and wash your hair, and brush it, then run a pair of scisiors through out certian parts about 3 inch sections and be sure to rember your hair shrinks up after its dried so cut it a little longer too. i also die hair too.

oh and btw make sure its all even, i usualy have a friend help me with the back.

trust me when you do it yourself it looks horrible. I would suggest if you ABSOLUTELY won't go to a salon, then get a friend to help you or something. But a salon is deffinatly the best answer.

How pathetic, a hair cut does not cost much. Just go to the 'salon' (hairdressers) and stop been such a tight wod.

If you atempt to do it yourself, you will end up looking like a wolly as you wont be able to do it properly.
