I have shoulder-length layered hair (that has been thinned) and an eyebrow length fringe. Is there a way to pin it up/ tie it up without looking like I have a tail on the back of my head? I can't leave it down all the time.

Just tie it up in a ponytail lower down, instead of higher up, and if it still looks bad try putting it into pigtails or something.
