Thinner, more layered hair?

the hair i have is really, really thick. it also doesn't stay straight even if i blowdry and flat-iron the hell out of it, i hate it so much. unfortunately the only word i can think of to describe the hair i want is "scene"... i want it to be layered, with lots of sidebangs, but thinner. any suggestions on how i can get it the way i want it? :/

I had the same problem -- my suggestion is to go layery. maybe like a bob? Longer in front then shorter in back. This way it will short and out of your way!
