I see a lot of girls in their 20's with this certain type of haircut, and I'm not sure what it's called, and I can't find ANY pictures so that I can get it done. Usually the hair is pretty long, and it looks layered, but the layers aren't blunt. They're really quite wispy looking and the hair gets thinner and tapers toward the bottom. When I ask for layers, they're always kinda thick and my hair is straight across and thick at the bottom. To be honest, I see a lot of this tapered look in manga's. Does anyone know what it's called, or have a link to pictures of it? Thanks!

Unfortunately, haircut names are often unreliable,as one layering technique can have various names. It's hard to say without seeing you, but it sounds like when your hairstylist layers your hair she pulls all of your hair straight up above your head to cut your layers, this would maintain more fullness in longer hair. If you are wanting a lighter wispier look at the bottom, more bulk has to be removed. This would be done by cutting the long layer in the top, but instead of bringing the rest of the hair up to meet those layers (which would be like a 90 degree angle, if my math memory serves me correctly), the hair should be brought out at a 180 degree angle (straight out from the head) and blended from top layer to bottom length at this angle all the way around the head. This will definitely give a lighter, wispier look. One of the hardest things to do is to write down how to do a haircut, you can take this solution to your stylist and see if she understands what I'm saying... OR if all else fails, the next time you see someone with the haircut you are looking for, stop her and ask who does it, she will be flattered, I promise! Good luck, hope this helped.

You sound like you're describing 'choppy' layers cut with a razor.

if your gonna ask the hair stylist to do it you should just descrbie what it looks like. You could tell them you would like it layed and kindof whispy. or you could show then a pic of that hair style.

Sounds like it Mayyyy be what someone I know has.
Either way, you wanna be REALLY careful about who does it because many people can't and have no idea what they're doing. It took forever to get it right.

Maybe what you're looking for??
If so, this girl has her hair thinned. And I've heard it called a billion things. But whenever she brings the most recent name to the next stylist, they give her something different.
If not, sorry.
