I have long hair and I cut them layered and it was really nice at begining. After 1day I washed them and blow-dryed it. My hair look not really nice anymore. How do I take care of them, so they going to be nice.

Try not to do both blow drying and straightening. Choose one or the other. What I do is take a shower at night and put my hair in braids which keeps the split ends in and makes them less noticable in the morning. If you really feel the need to blow dry, invest in an ionic blow dryer. The ions for the blow dryer lock in mosture, making it less damaging to your hair.

i blow dry my hair, put in some hair serum and curl it (starting at the nape of my neck) with a ceramic 1" curing iron. I do like 3-4" wide sections and not too thick.. but not like really thin pieces... and pull down lawyers of hair as i go..and for the l;ayers more towards the top i pull the hair straight up or out from my head to curl... i dont pull the hair downward.. they seem to get flat if i do this.... and i dont pu anything in it after that

you have layers. one length would mean cut straight across- you would have to grow your hair out to atleast shoulder length before you could get a one length hair cut. layering means that the top and bottom layers of your hair are not the same length and there are middle layers in between.

Try using gel to control the layers, then get a friend to french braid your hair (in two braids is cute).

Or go to a hair salon and get them to do something for you. It would, of course, cost money, but it may be worth it. You want to look great (and appropriate) for the tryouts!

Depending on how short your hair is, you can do finger waves (i did this for my niece and it was awesome) or you can have it curled and they can pin each little curl up individually if its at least 4-5" long layers and it will look like an updo ! I have done this too !

First use a "curl enhansing" shampoo, the good brands have a certain mineral that helps, don't use conditioner-it tends to weigh down curls. if you want dramatic curls, than use pin curls. If you want loose or just whatever kind you want I suggest using BIG SEXY HAIR. It's a bit pricy but it HOLDS. Enjoy and I hope I was helpful:)

Straighten it pin straight. Add a totally cute headband that you like. Then wear a shirt and earrings that match the headband. Earrings that really go with punk hair cuts are the kinds that cover a lot of your earlobe. They sell them at Claire's in the plastic section.

Medium, Thick, Layered Hair?

Firstly, you want to put products in your hair. After you shampoo you always want to put a leave in conditioner in your hair. I like to use TIGI Catwalk's Fast Fix. Next you want to appy a straightening lotion to your locks... I love to use Redken's Straight, but if your hair needs a little extra hold or tends to friss easily, I love Redken's Align. Blowdry your hair first till its about 80% dry. Then starting from the bottom, section off some hair, and with a round brush blowdry from roots to ends. Keep twisting the brush at your ends so you produce some curl. Always remember to blowdry in the direction of your hair growth...blowing the opposite way will make your cuticles stand up and fro. Also you want to use a nozzle on your blowdryer for more control. When the section in your brush is dry, give it a blast of cold air (still pointed in the direction of the hair growth) from your dryer to lay down all flyaways. Finish drying your whole head and then use a gloss or finishing product. My favorites are TIGI Afterparty and TIGI Manipulator.

Sounds like my hair! I don't usually blow dry my hair because it gets so dry but when I do blow dry I use a brush at the same time for the kind of style I want and add some Mousse and Gel to my hair too. If I want my hair to stay curly I just let it dry naturally. Depends on what style you like. Thick hair is so beautiful if you keep it layered. I have to do that too.

if you want a big change you can change the colour with hightlights etc to bring out your different features. its hard to know what would suit you with out seeing your face shape and that. go to the hairdressers and if you want it short, find a style in a mag you like and ask them to cut it longer than the picture incase you dont like it. if you do like your hair shoter cut it more until your happy.

remember, you can always cut more hair off but you cant add it back when its cut. =)

you should definently try layers. layers add so much life to your hair, and make it fun. bangs might help to shape your face, but you should make sure your face isn't too round because they might make you look chunky. Also, if your hair is kinda of dark, high lights are always a good way to shake things up. Maybe a couple of highlights that are a shade or two lighter than your hair. I know this probably sounds different, but from the sound of it different is exactly what you need. If worst comes to worst, cutting it short is always a good way to shake things up. Plus, it takes a load of of handling it. hope this helps. :]

I have layers and side bangs and i usually keep it down, make it half up half down, or make it into a bouncy bun...sometimes i leave it down and add a cute beret and it looks ah-mazing!!!!.... if u want u can also use a thin headband or a thick one depending on the type of hairstyle u want and make it into a ponytail or just leave it down!!! i personally love it when it is down caz it is super cute and lots of ppl compliment me on it too!!!!

I hear ya! I myself have layred hair. This may sound odd, but is totally works! If you really want to keep you hair up all day and take it out and NOT have ANY kinks... Then you use a large barreled curling iron and simply give your hair a little wave and volume. It totally works! (This works for ANY hair type.) If you have thinner hair (like me) Then I would suggest (after taking down your hair...) To spray a little water - or loreal kids anti - tangle sray, just on the crease of the kink. you can then comb through with your fingers or use a small - toothed comb. Hope I helped!

Sound like you and I have the same type of hair and the same length. I have attemped curling irons for years and no avail! My best advice would first be to purchase some medium-size rollers (such as Conair IonShine: http://www.conair.com/shine-instant-heat... , $25 at Target or Walmart). After drying your hair, put the rollers in and leave them in for about 10-15 minutes. After taking them out, flip your hair upside down and use hairspray (I like Herbal Essences) to secure the curls and also "shake" some of the curl out so you don't end up looking like Shirley Temple. This is the best way to create that loose-curl look like Angelina has in the movie. To make sure the curls stay, just use a good amount of hairspray. (If you get a good kind it won't end up being very stiff.) Curling the bottom ends only? Simple - just don't wrap the rollers all the way up on top of your head, let them hang a bit and leave them in until they aren't warm anymore.

For scrunching, I like to use John Frieda Beach Blonde Ocean Waves Sea Spray (under $5). Just use when your hair is damp - flip head upside down and spray, then scrunch hair. This gives a nice, tousled look that is not wet dog-looking and also stays for a long period of time.

You mean you don't want to go shorter than it is. For this I recommend a razorcut of course go with a stylist that knows how to do this. Tell them to give you medium layers and the layers in the front to start a 1/2 inch under your chin and you have the option for bangs it's your choice. I made a list of the best products for your hair to volumize it:

I have really long curly hair and i was thinking of getting it layered but Im scared it will go too thin, does layering it make it thinner or not?

I actually have quite thin curly hair, but I have it layered as well - doesnt make it too thin at all! Helps with the curl as well, so you dont end up with flat hair at the top and all your curl at the bottom! (dont worry, doesnt make it afro though!)

it depends on the length of your hair and how smooth do you want the gradation between the shortest and the longest layer to be. Usually it is about 3 or 4 to make the difference noticeable but still make it look balanced.

I have layers and I straighten my hair often, and it looks good. You just have to make sure your hair stylist knows that youre going to be wearing your hair straight so she can cut it appropriately.

For the last two years I have been getting my hair highlited through the cap thing. It started growing out and so I decided to get some of that cheap stuff from Wal-Mart and dye it back brown. My hair is layered sort of like that Jennifer Anniston look and I use a flat iron and since I've dyed it brown, you can see major split ends and it is very dry. If I were to get all the split ends cut off it would be very short and I like the lenghth it is. Any suggestions on a good conditioner or something? I want it to look shiny. I use that Frizz Ease and the Aussie 3 minute miracle and even that Scruples Moisterex but I need something that will repair split ends and make my hair shiny if there is such a product. Any help would be very much appreciated.

First and foremost you must understand that hair is not living. In other words you can't truly repair damage that's already done.

At best follicles can be smoothed by product but split ends are a lot like the frayed edges of a towel. Unless you cut off the offending area the frays will get longer.

**The same for your hair, tell your hairdresser you only want enough off to eliminate as many split ends as you can. She can tell as she cuts it.

**I would recommend scissors not razor for a little while as the razor can add to the problem.

**Then ask for a hot oil treatment.

This gives your hair the fastest recovery.

**Realize too that heat whether really hot water, too much sun, or dryer or Flat Irons truly do damage the hair resulting in a tendency to brittle/dry, and split ends.

**So we know you want that cute style but consider cutting back as much as you can.

**Let your hair air dry as often as possible, blot with towel not rub, and when you use a hot iron try to leave hair in there as short a time as possible.

**Don't opt for the hottest heat setting, try for the lowest that will do the job.

**Try to find ways to add moisture, the 3 minute miracle is a great place to start, they also have a 'Deep' conditioner that's out now. I would also look for smoothing serums.

**Also, don't wash hair every day, go every other day at most.

I know this long and probably not what you wanted to hear but try to remember, your will grow back before you know it and that doing it this way means some discomfort to you (perhaps) for a few weeks, not taking care of it can mean annoyance/discomfort for months.

Who knows you may find you like not having to spend as much time on your hair. And when you do attend special occasions (time to pull out the flat iron!) then you won't have to search as hard for a new look.

If its really bad you going to have to get it cut. your hair sounds alot like mine. sadly i havent found a miracle cure. all i have found that sort of works is keeping the very ends trimmed off regularly and keep using good conditionres. there is a product called Shine that you can use daily that helps a good bit. its like a clear oil looking stuff that comes in a very small pump bottle available at wal mart. 1 bottle lasts a very long time which is good because its fairly expensive. good luck.

And the more you use in that line the better off your hair will be. When you use these products you will see a big difference.. I have a perm on top of color. i had the same problem. before she began i told my stylist to only cut a 1/2 inch. a good stylist will show you the size of hair in her hand to make sure that that's what you want. (a 1/2 inch is about the size of the width of the tip of your pinkie)

after that initial cut, i continued going for a trim to the same stylist every 3 mos but only allowed her to cut a 1/4 inch. now i have healthy hair down to my shoulders blades. it really made a difference. its been 6 years and i will not let anyone else touch my hair. she knows me and she knows my hair.

buy those soft curlers and sleep in them. it is soooo easy and you save so much time in the morning. you just take them out and only brush the top of your hair otherwise you brush right through the curls. then use hairspray, not mousse. ive found that a great brand of hairspray is matrix hairspray. and for looser, messier curls, you separate each curl in two. it is a more casual, less shirley temple look.

then for waves, sleep in braids. (the number depending on how wavy you want your hair. i would probably recommend about eight or so) then you just take them out in the morning and just brush the top of your hair. you can use hairspray, but i usually dont need it, but then again, my hair holds waves really well......

and if you shower in the morning, scrunch your hair with mousse and it looks pretty good but might get a little frizzy.

and as for just regular hairstyles, i would try sidebangs or whispy bangs instead of thick ones......dont know about the cut i might have to see the shape of your face, sry....

you can also do buns, because they are pretty in, or low pigtails, but you might be a little old for them, but my sister in college looks cute in them so i dont know.....

as for hairbands, very cute and in!!! definitely!!!

u could wear your hair half-up, leaving your bangs down.....

Roll and set it. Mousse it. Gel it and spray hard to old spray or Sheen spray. Wash it, mousse, gel, and freeze. (holding spray). Styling gel. Sculpure it. Hair pens can be your friend too.

try adding a cute head band. i have one to match every outfit and they arent that expensive. 1-6 dollars max. i wear them with my hair up and down and get tons of complements. another good idea is barettes. i bought a whole pack of like 26 at target for 3 dollars. you can use them to create different styles too. adding hair accesories can make a ton of difference.

How about also going with the wave in your hair. I have a natural wave as well and by merely my putting some styling mousse (foam) or if you prefer gel (it's too harsh for my sensitive scalp) and using a diffuser attachment (with those little 'fingers') while twirling small sections of your hair (being careful not to hold the dryer in one place for too long or can get burnt). It's so much easier than trying to blow it out straight and then it frizzing up ;)

For mousse, I prefer Texture foam for heat styling :) I then just put a spritz of final net hairspray (pump as not nearly as toxic as aeresol spray) unscented. It doesn't make the hair too stiff either.

You can layer any length of hair, but it depends on what style you're after. Traditional layers, your hair needs to be at least past your ears in length, or even as far down as your shoulders. Layers just break up the silhouette of your hair and helps frame your face. It can also make your hair appear thinner if you have very thick, bushy hair, if your hairdresser cuts it in a specific way.

Layers are just normal hair cutting, but they do it in segments, so each segment of hair has a length, with the longest at the back, and the shortest at the top/front.

that particular cut in that pic would take a bit of time because it's slightly curled. I have hair kind of like that but a bit longer. If you get a hair straightener you can actually turn the ends (or do a slight wave like in that photo) really quickly, and you can get cheap ones nowadays almost anywhere, it only takes me 10 mins to get my layers looking like that with a straightener every morning. If I'm lazy I just tie it up! I also ha straight layers earlier that needed no cure at all and were actually a lot lot easier than non layered hair! And if your hair is thin and straight then layers would definitely look good on you.

actually layering your hair wont take a lot of time in the morning, with a good layered cut, all u need to do is curl just the ends of your hair for a bit of volume or pull it up with a few whisps of the shorter layers around your face to frame it nicely. If you DO have the time and wanna get fancy, some loose curls can also add a lot of volume to your hair, all because of the layers :)

My hair's kinda strawberry-blonde color. Medium length. Layered a lot. It's naturally somewhat wavy. Sometimes I leave it natural, sometimes I straighten it. So I basically have no hw tonight for the first time in the past 5 years (seriously it's awesome) so I'm going to go to bed early and get up early and do something cool to my hair since it's the last day before break tomorrow. When you say short layers... I assume you mean you don't have alot of layers. You could always put it up into a ponytail if you don't have time... I think it looks nice when you have a bit of waves.

Heard Dream Curls has worked for most people with curlier hair... so that could work for you. Most would apply some sort of curling mousse or curling spray while the hair is damp and they either "air dry" or blow dry with a diffuser. Some add serum after or before letting it dry... but you can do both to create a shiny healthier look. I go with "air dry" because my hair is normally dry.

You can use rollers if you want enhance your waves, this can work with heat or without.... but if you going to use somethin with heat I would suggest to use any styling products that is made for heat to prevent from damaging your hair if you were to go straight or not.

I think it would look prettier if you could ask your hairdressor to layer it more and slim down the look... and if they cut it right, it would be alot easier to style.

I use to love the straight look but it is very time-consuming for our type of hair... so it is easier to work with what you have. I only use the straightener to fix my bangs.... but you can do whatever you want. Good luck!

I'll tell you what I had that I absolutely loved.

My hair is waist length and really thin, so I didn't do much.

But I had straight bangs to my eyelashes. I had layers down the front sides. They started a couple inches below my chin and I would make them curl under. It almost always looked amazing. You could just get a few long layers in the back for body.

Well, I used to have layered hair (for a really long time- ever since 4th grade and I cut it off to straight this spring (6th grade, so that's 2 years now)) and I think blow drying it will be good for you.

1. You can't do much with a towel- it's not good to rub your hair after a shower- your hair is delicate

2. It's just way faster and without it, you would spend hours on your hair.

If you use a hair dryer, then do the following steps...

*Use a wide-spaced finger comb or a brush with holes in it (the hair dryer may come with it but if not, get a brush with space in it so that the hair-dryer air can go through it while you're brushing)

*Do not use a brush that has very little holes between the fingers- it will damage your hair

*Go to pantene.com for more info- check out the dealing with straight hair section. (I'm assuming that you have straight hair- straight hair is better for layers) I don't have much time here, but I hope this helps.

I have medium length hair which is really layered. I can't do much with it because my hair's just a little too short and the layers sometimes stick out in the odd place.

Mine is the same way. I pull it back in a half-pony, only I just pull back a strip of hair about an inch wide from right in the middle, pull it back and clip it with some cute little clip. Sometimes I do little pigtails. With longer hair, it looks childish, but with hair like ours it just looks cute! But do the pigtails right below the ears, not above. We're not Pippi Longstocking!

Also, just wearing it down, your hair can look entirely different depending on what's in it. Cute little clips, or a hat! I have a black hat with a rhinestone skull on the side. It's not like a baseball cap or anything, it's more femenine. I wear it slightly sideways with the bill down over one eye (but not far enough to impair my vision) and it covrs bad hair days so easily! And looks good with almost anything!!

I have naturally curly hair and I use a straight iron to style it. But when I use it my hair never looks layered, it doesn't give it that dimension (the flat iron I mean). I also love how my hair looks after my stylist has blow dried it straight. But I can never get that look at home. I especially have blow drying it straight behind my head.

So, how can I style my hair to accentuate the layers in it, and is there an easy way to blow dry it straight?

How do I go about styling my layered hair?

When you blowdry your hair, make sure that the blowdrier is pointed at the floor instead of directly at your hair, so it flattens your hair cuticles instead of ruffling them up, giving you a sleeker finish. Also, try ironing each layer individually--start with the layers close to your neck and work your way to the layers on top. This probably won't take much longer to do, and you'll get more of the layered look you want.

I got a hair cut and I wanted a nice cascading layered look instead I got a Choppy layered look. I want to feel confident since a big reason I got a haircut was to feel better about myself. I have Side swiped bangs but they are long enough to go in my ponytail.

well you know what you should do to get rid off the chopyness. is take one lay and cut up with scicors like directly up and it gets rid of them but make sure you dont use just regular scissors it really easy to mess up and cut too much hair..

My hair used to be longer and thicker,but then my mom made me get my hair layered, so now my overall hair shape looks a lot thinner. I want it to grow thicker again. Try horse shampoo for thicker hair and to make it grow faster. As strange as it may sound , my husband suggested I use it on my daughter's hair and it really worked. Get the "Long" layers vs the "Short" layers. The short ones can make your hair look frizzy and be harder to deal with.

Use your curling iron to make ringlet curls. It doesn't that long, trust me because I have long layered hair that reaches down to my rear end. If you use a Sprunch Spray like the one Aussie makes while you are curling the individual pieces, then use a pick or wide tooth comb, or even use your fingers to break up the ringlet. Finish off with a light spritz of Sprunch Spray, and you will be good to go all day. Make sure not to touch your hair throughout the day though, because that will lead to frizzing and flatness... good luck, happy curling.

P.S. make sure to curl your hair after a break in washing it. Freshly washed hair will not hold the curl as well.

just scrunch your hair after u get out of the shower using a little bit of mousse while using a blow dryer on low setting

then once its dry pin up the top layers and use a curling iron for the underneath layers

unpin the top and do the same

use a little hairspray if needed

Ok well from what I have discovered, is that anything OTHER than a curling wand takes way too many hours. Sounds simple..but to me it really is the best way..and put a holding serum in your hair before you curl it (was advised by a hairdresser) and ofcourse..spray the S**t out of them with hairspray afterwards. :)

Um...that question doesn't make sense. Layers look good on thick, wavy or curly hair. Straight, stringy hair of any color looks better either short and choppy or long and all-one-length.

I want to find time to flip my hair with my curling iron. It's a 3'4 or something like that, i can't buy another one because i don't have moneeeeeeey. I'm 14 and i'd like to find time to flip my hair like 2 times every week. I'm scared that i would be late for school. My hair is a little past my shoulders and it's layered. After i flipped my layers can i put gel on it so it would hold? How long do you think it would take me? Because i have fairly straight hair and it's not thick.

you can flip out hair with a straignther, and no use a flex hold hairspray to keep the flip at the end of your hair. it should only take about 10 minutes if your ontop of it, if you take layers of your hair at a time and do piece by piece if could take you 20 minutes tops. It shouldn't take you that long. Just remember, smaller sections curl faster. The thicker you make it around the iron, the longer it's gonna take. You could also try throwing some hairspray in it beforehand, and letting it dry while you get ready, then curl it. Do not, I repeat, DO NOT spray your hair while it's on the iron. It'll only make it stick to the iron and cause breakage.

only flip the top part of your hair. then you take the bottom half of your hair and you leave it straight. if you want to keep your curls up i suggest that right after you get done curling that one part you emedietly put hair spray on only that part. then the curls will stay. this should only take from 10 to 15 minutes. tops would be 20 but that's only if it's your first time. trust me only doing half looks adorable. because my sis does it.

I'm an asian with thick, layered hair, that's naturally straight. How can I prevent my hair from getting wavy after washing it, other than straightening it? I'm not allowed to straighten my hair because my mom says it'll dry out my hair.

If you have naturally wavy hair, the only way to get it truly straight is to flat iron it. However, you can also try usiing straightening products to relax the waves... Sleek Look by Matrix is a good line. I would use the shamp/cond and their straightening balm.

Okay, so i have long thick hair with side-swept bangs. it's about 5 inches longer than shoulder length. its black and it's got dents in it from where ive tied it up wayyy too tight. i know you're thinking, how does hair get dents? but anyways, its REALLY REALLY thick. and i'm thinking of getting it cut like Bill Kaulitz from the band Tokio Hotel, you know, black and layered with white streaks. if you dont know who he is, go search him up. and i just want to know if it would work on my hair. and before i died it black i had red streks through my bangs and now they're showing up again. I agree with the dude on top of me. Your hair would definitely be great with Bill's layers. His hair was originally a bit on the thick side like toms and so he layered it to let it have a thinner look. two thumbs wayy up from me. i do my friends and my hair all the time. all you have to do is take a shower and wash your hair, and brush it, then run a pair of scisiors through out certian parts about 3 inch sections and be sure to rember your hair shrinks up after its dried so cut it a little longer too. i also die hair too.
